Who Knew?!

Updated: Oct 24, 2023

My client used to raise Monarch Butterflies!

This one made me a bit nervous for a couple of reasons. First, there was the threat of bad weather rolling in as a result of an offshore hurricane. Therefore, I knew I had to really paint in "high gear" to get this one finished in time.

Secondly, as I only learned upon arrival, my client used to raise monarch butterflies. Oh Lordy, I quickly realized she was going to want way more than just a "pretty" butterfly mural!

Were you aware of the fact that the sex of a monarch butterfly can be determined by his "testicles?" Lol, me either! If you look closely, you can detect two small, black ovals - one located on the bottom half of each wing. Perhaps now you can understand my trepidation. One might say; I was "sweating bullets" over both, the looming hurricane and painting this particular driveway mural. 😳

Well, I'm happy to report that we dodged both bullets that day. The hurricane passed us by, virtually unscathed; and my delightful clients are thrilled with their driveway mural!

What are your thoughts about this "male, " Monarch Butterfly mural?
